Hard Strips (India) is one of the biggest manufacturers of medium & high carbon steel strips & steel coils in India. Carbon steel strips are the steel strips where the main alloying constituent is carbon. Carbon steel is defined as the steel when no minimum content is specified or required for chromium, cobalt, columbium, molybdenum, nickel, titanium, tungsten, vanadium or zirconium, or any other element to be added to obtain a desired alloying effect; when the specified minimum for copper does not exceed 0.40 percent; or when the maximum content specified for any of the following elements does not exceed the percentages noted: manganese 1.65, silicon 0.60, copper 0.60.
Medium Carbon Steel Strips
Medium carbon steel strips contain approximately 0.30–0.69% carbon content. This balances ductility and strength and has good wear resistance. Thus medium carbon steel coils are used for forging and automotive components.
High Carbon Steel Strips
High carbon steel strips contain carbon content greater than 0.70%. These steel strips are extremely strong, have a longer service life compared to the medium carbon steel strips, & can successfully undergo heat-treatment. High carbon steel coils also have a high wear resistance due to their superior surface hardness and thus, are used for springs and high-strength wires.
Low Alloy Steel Strips
Low-alloy steel strips have better mechanical properties than the carbon steels and are a result of the addition of 1% to 7% of the alloying elements such as nickel, chromium, vanadium and molybdenum. Depending on the alloying elements, low alloy steel can have better corrosion resistance, hardenability, workability, weldability, & toughness after being heat treated than the carbon steel.
